Ratha Yatra

According to legend, Ratha Yatra marks Lord Jagannath's annual visit to the Gundicha Temple, believed to be the home of his aunt. Accompanied by his brother Balabhadra and sister Subhadra, the Lord leaves the sanctum of the Jagannath Temple and journeys through the streets of Puri in grand chariots.

Unlike most festivals where devotees visit the deity, Ratha Yatra is special because the deity comes out to meet the people. It symbolizes compassion, inclusivity, and the Lord's desire to bless everyone, regardless of status or background.

Growing up, we've heard this story and watched millions gather to pull the sacred chariots, becoming part of a tradition that has continued for centuries.
