Flag that defies the wind

One of the most fascinating legends of Jagannath Temple is about its flag. Despite the direction of the wind, devotees have long believed that the temple flag appears to flutter against it, leaving everyone wondering how.

That mystery became the inspiration behind this design.

But the stories don't end there. The flag is replaced every single day as a symbol of renewed faith and devotion. Temple lore even says that if the flag is not changed for a day, the temple would have to remain closed for 18 years.
